2026-09-26Delft, or Neduntheevu, is one of the most unusual day trips in the north, a flat, windswept island where wild ponies roam open grassland, field boundaries are built from stacked coral stone, and old Dutch and Portuguese fortifications stand quietly in the landscape. A great baobab tree, far from its African origins, and fishing villages along the shore complete the picture.
The trip is about 90 minutes by road, around 49.5 km, from Ratnagiri Heritage Home Stay, plus a boat crossing, so treat it as a full-day adventure. Start early, check the ferry schedule, and carry water, snacks, sun protection and some cash.
