2026-09-16Lake Yamuna, known locally as Yamuna Eri, is a man-made pond created by the ancient kings of Jaffna. Its still, dark water, stone-lined edges and shady surroundings make it a peaceful spot for birdlife and photography. Local tradition holds that its water was mixed with sacred water from India’s Yamuna River, a legend that adds to its quiet mystique.
The lake is about a 10-minute drive, roughly 4.5 km, from Ratnagiri Heritage Home Stay, close to Nallur, so it fits neatly into a visit to the Nallur Kandaswamy Temple.
