2026-10-06The Nagapooshani Amman Temple on Nainativu island is one of the most important Hindu shrines in the north, dedicated to the goddess Amman. Its Dravidian architecture, towering and brightly painted gopurams and busy festival calendar make it a vivid, colourful place that fills with devotees during the great celebrations.
From Ratnagiri Heritage Home Stay the journey is about 60 minutes by road, roughly 39.5 km, plus a short ferry crossing. It sits on the same island as Nagadeepa Viharaya, so most visitors combine the two in a single day. Dress modestly, remove your footwear and ask before photographing inside the inner shrines.
