Sangupiddy Causeway

The Sangupiddy Causeway carries the road across open lagoons, linking the Jaffna peninsula with the mainland on the way towards Mannar. The views are wide and watery, with fishing villages along the shore, flocks of birds and some of the region’s most dramatic skies at sunrise and sunset.

It is about a 35-minute drive, roughly 30.0 km, from Ratnagiri Heritage Home Stay. It makes a good photo stop on a longer day out. Be careful of traffic when you stop, and avoid the midday sun.
